DCU TY represents a unique five-way partnership between DCU, Second Level Schools and representative bodies from the Corporate Sector, Public Sector, and Third Sector in the Dublin Region.
DCU TY aims to provide innovative educational opportunities to Transition Year students residing in communities in Dublin which are currently underrepresented in higher education. The programme was designed to increase engagement in education and to raise motivation and career aspirations. DCU TY engages with DCU Access link schools, Community Groups and Voluntary Organisations both in Dublin and further afield.
Curriculum content was designed and developed by the Access Service at DCU through a collaborative process with Schools and a range of industry professionals together with a host of academics across multiple disciplines at DCU including the Department for Student Support and Development, the Center for Talented Youth of Ireland, the School of Communications and the DCU Institute of Education.
The following modules are offered to DCU Partner Schools:
Teacher Training is a core provision of the DCU TY Programme with training provided by the DCU Access Service at key stages throughout the academic year. Initially training will be delivered in DCU and then online during the academic year.
Additional Resources provided to Schools by DCU TY include the provision of workshops, materials, software, equipment and guest lectures from industry professionals.
