Leadership is designed to explore views and ideas on what leadership means at a general level. It will also assist students to begin developing their current and potential leadership skills, aptitudes and competencies, enhance their self-confidence to identify and embrace with a positive can-do attitude, leadership opportunities and options as they unfold. The Leadership course is intended for delivery over 6 workshops, each covering a double class period 70 to 80 minutes.
The workshops draw on current research and theory and incorporate opportunities for practical experience of developing skills, competencies, attributes and aptitudes most appropriate for building successful leadership in young people. Self-Perception, Self-Expression, Relationship Building, Decision Making and Stress Management are intertwined with signature strengths associated with superior leadership. The emphasis is firmly on empowering participants to better personal and professional leadership, more successful positive ‘can do’ attitude / approach and implementation processes as well as fostering a strong reflective practice.
