This week we look at creating a Podcast. This is a technical lesson, so computers will be required for students.
Creating podcasts has many educational benefits. Students are able to create a product to share with a potentially world-wide audience. Knowing that there is a real-world audience gives students purpose and motivation to create a spectacular product. The process of putting together an audio recording is extremely valuable and is certainly a cross-curricular experience.

“A podcast is a series of audio or video on the web.”
A Podcast is a digital audio file made available on the Internet for downloading to a computer or portable media player, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers automatically.
Students and teachers from all over the world are learning from audio and video programs on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, netbooks, and other devices. Hundreds of free educational programs are available online. This lesson develops students script writing skills and shows how to make a Podcast.
Start the class with the “What in the World is a Podcast?” – this is a short video introducing students to what a Podcast is. It also looks at 5 misconceptions about podcasts.
Decide on a theme for the class podcasts. This should be something that the students find interesting and engaging and have the ability to research themselves online.
